What are Protests?

Protests are demonstrations of disagreement, often against governments or big corporations. Protests can come in many forms including a simple rally, strikes, marching, petitions, or even violent actions.

"I think it's really important that you emphasise that there's a difference between peaceful protest and violent protest... it's only peaceful protest that's protected by human rights because as soon as the protest becomes violent you're not entitled to the right of assembly." - Lionel Nichols, Human Rights Lawyer
